Hi Everyone! We are Josh and Sarah Spackman. Along with our test-taster dog Maggie, we are the new owners of Grand Trunk Veggies and Chefs Farmer. We’re incredibly excited to be taking over the urban farming business from Kye, and we are looking forward to following in his footsteps.

While taking on his new farm in Jaffray B.C, Corner Veggies, Kye is going to be helping us to grow the same amazing quality of produce that everyone has come to expect. Chefs Farmer will continue to offer the familiar favourites including the popular salad box program, and we have a few new and exciting ideas to stay tuned for in the upcoming months!

We are extremely excited to meet and work with everyone in the coming months and are eagerly awaiting all the delicious veggies and salad mixes we’ll have to share with you.

Grand Trunk Veggies (GTV) is an urban farm named after the historic name for what is now Calgary’s West-Hillhurst neighbourhood. On our farm we honor a time when most yards had gardens by returning urban lawns to vegetable plots in a modern context. We’re continuing on a mission to grow green communities in Calgary and produce healthy and ecologically focused salads, herbs and flowers. We sell our awesome greens and veggies under the name Chef's Farmer to individual consumers, select markets and grocers, and to local Calgary restaurants.  

An Urban Farm?

Grand Trunk Veggies is a ⅓ of an acre farm made up of donated backyards in the West Hillhust, St. Andrew's Heights and Banff-Trail neighbourhoods of Calgary. Generous landowners have donated their yards to food production, soil repair and neighbourhood beautification. On this land we grow crops that are shared with the landowners and sold to restaurants and grocers in the city.

There's no Junk in our Trunk- What we Grow:

At Grand Trunk Veggies we believes in precision and simplicity, so we've focused on perfecting some crops rather than trying to grow them all. At GTV our sights are set on growing high-quality greens like baby spinach, red-russian kale, mizuna and colorful mixed lettuces; an assortment of radishes; major culinary herbs like cilantro, chives, mint and parsley; plus edible flowers for you and the bees. 

All our salads and greens are washed, dries and packaged in compostable containers so customers can feel good, both while eating and disposing of the containers.
